Review: With Seduction in Mind (Laura Lee Guhrke)

Publisher: Avon (2009)
Format: Mass Market Paperback | 384 pages
Genre(s): Historical Romance
Description: "Daisy Merrick has to earn her living, but she keeps getting the sack. When her rash tongue costs her yet another job, the feisty, outspoken girl-bachelor is undaunted, and she comes up with a plan that could give her a future beyond her wildest dreams. There’s only one problem. Her success depends on a man, the most infuriating, impossible, immovable man she’s ever met.

Sebastian Grant, Earl of Avermore, is England’s most famous author, but when writer’s block steals his creativity, Sebastian becomes more well-known for his notorious reputation than his work. When Daisy arrives on his doorstep, hired by his publisher to help him write his next book, Sebastian has no intention of cooperating. The provoking, fire-haired beauty stirs his senses beyond belief, and when collaboration forces them together at his country home, Sebastian knows he has only one way out. Seduction."
"With Seduction in Mind" is the fourth installment of Guhrke's "Girl Bachelor" series.

Although I loved "And then He Kissed Her", the first in the series and thought the third book was also good, this one was just... okay. Oh, it was 'steamy' (the praiser in the cover was right) and Daisy (the heroine) was 'cute' and appropriately fiery and defiant and all that, but I just couldn't seem to connect with her or Sebastian for that matter. I disliked him since he first appeared, as he behaved a lot like a sulky child. Also and even if it was 'steamy', I felt there was no real chemistry.

My overall word for describing this book is "blah". The characters, plot and everything else were okay and I liked them enough, but altogether there isn't really anything that stands out in this romance. It's just average. A pity since I really like this author and have read much better books by her.
