Description (Goodreads): "Willow has spent most of her life as her mother's sidekick in a popular Las Vegas hypnotism show. So when she and her mom move back to their sleepy southern hometown to start over, she thinks she's in for a life of quiet normalcy. Except that her new life turns out to be anything but, when she kinda sorta hypnotizes Quinton, the hottest guy on the football team, to fall madly, deeply, head over heels in love with her. But what started out as an innocent way to make her best friend, Max, jealous soon gets way out of hand, and Willow begins to wonder if the mind - and more importantly, the heart - is something you can really control."
"Crush Control" is the perfect book to read when you want something light, fun and fluffy. I enjoyed this book but must admit it is a very standard young adult romance.
Willow is crushed when she has to leave her small town and her best friend, Max, at the tender age of nine years old. So she decides to hypnotize him to always be her best friend.
Now 17, Willow returns to her old town after spending years as her mother's sidekick in a hypnotism show in Vegas. She and Max have kept in contact and somehow she ended up falling for him; the trouble is, she hypnotized him to always be her friend...
In spite of being riddled with stereotypes from the "love triangle" to falling in love with your best friend, "Crush Control" has it's moments. The story is pretty predictable and the most characters aren't that well developed but the book still manages to be a page turner somehow.
Overall: even if it lacks originality, "Crush Control" is a quick, cute and sometimes funny read. The main character grows a little bit and comes to some conclusions about herself and life (nothing too deep) but most of the time this is a light read. Perfect for summer and for the beach.
